Quick reference: counting painted cubes

  • Corners (3 faces): normally 8, but fewer if any dimension = 1
  • Edge cubes (2 faces): sum of edges excluding corners
  • Face cubes (1 face): interior of each face excluding edges
  • Interior (0 face): cubes not on any outer face

Note: when any of L, B, H equals 1, some cubes can have 4–6 faces painted. In the app, these are grouped under “3+” and a small note appears.
